2008-09-7 - Perfect World International
Perfect World is one of those games that would get just about any MMO fan hooked from the start. Beginning with the character creation, there is a broad selection of options for humans and elves so that your character can truly represent your role play persona. However, the males of the untamed (beastial) race are more limited to these options.

On the scale of graphics and gameplay, it is truly spectacular. Everything runs very neatly, and the only common glitch appears when the character gets caught between two close objects (ie; building and hill foot). Movement, camera zoom and rotation, weather shifts, and jumping are all developed smoothly. The transition from day to night is also topped with a nice sunset in between.

The graphics are truly beautiful in both high and low definition, and you can conveniently adjust them to work with your GPU. The audio is great throughout the game, and the music is a perfect composition of traditional Chinese montages.

As for the questing, it is fun from the start, and you won't get bored any time soon with such a wide array of unique monsters and missions.

You will also find that the armor from beginning to elite levels is very original and intricately designed, as the same can be said for the choice in weaponry.

Generally, this is a great game for anyone who enjoys MMOs, and aside from the optional features, it is free to play; a great deal for anyone.

2008-09-7 - Archlord Review
The title says it all, really. As I started the game and went to create my character, the first thing I noticed was the pitiful excuse for customization. You aren't able to choose your gender, the point-click is is as laggy as it is poorly maneuverable, and the only customization offered is preset hair and face modules of dull quality. I will say they did well with the class choices, though. Nonetheless, I wasn't going to let that deter me from playing.

I entered the world as an Orc Berserker, and the surroundings didn't seem bad. The graphics were acceptable, late 90's style, so I had a little hope for the game; until, that is, I actually decided to move around. The movement in this game lags horribly. As you try to rotate your view while running, it takes almost 2 seconds before the character moves to catch up.

Of course, despite this little glitch, I decided to try my hand at a quest. The quest system seems fairly descent, although there was still the not-so-descent point and click. So I then set out to check out the combat in this, and I'll say that the melee attack was smooth, however the player HP is reduced much too fast - I died 4 times killing six newbie-level spiders.

That is when I decided to take my leave. All in all, I believe that if the developers would have put a little more time and professional effort into designing this game, it could have been somewhat good. But seeing as that wasn't the case, this game is so terrible that it had to be reduced to "100% Free" status in hope that someone might just play it for 5 minutes.

2008-09-7 - EVE Online Review
I had my own doubts at first, but once the download finished and I ran the game, it just clicked with me from the beginning. The further I go into the game, things just get funner from there. Also a plus for me, as someone who enjoys a wide set of customizing options, is the character customization; it is literally the most broad and detailed selection I've ever come across. Not to mention there is a very helpful tutorial at the beginning that is extremely simple to understand while still covering everything you need to know about the game play basics.

Not only that, but you can even customize your ship according to what you need in order to accomplish what you want to do in the game. You start out with your race's rookie ship, and as you go further into the galaxy and learn more skills, there is such a wide variety of ships to buy throughout the game, and so many upgrades and rigs to add. Oh, and I should add that on your character, you can learn cybernetics and virtually enhance him/herself with electronic implants, pretty cool I'll say.

The only downfall is that the skill training doesn't go by a set game-based time (ie; hours = minutes, minutes = seconds), your training lasts for actual, real time hours. But this does not stop you from doing other things in the mean time, because training does not interfere with game play, rather it runs in the background until completed.

I suggest training in what you can early in the game and getting a head start in key skill basics, however certain natural skills such as gunning and ship commanding upgrade automatically as you go, just like driving and stamina in GTA.

All in all, I give it a 9/10 for being original, immersive, and all of the above.
